Welcome Home, Chapman Alumni

Thanks to a leadership gift from Tom Elliott '60 and Pat (Wood) Elliott '60 (M.A. '74), alumni have a new home to call their own at Chapman University.

"We are deeply proud to be alumni," said Tom. "Having a true alumni house where receptions, reunions and meetings can be held will help cultivate that feeling in others."

The Elliotts made a combined cash and bequest gift toward the purchase and restoration of the charming two-story Queen Anne Victorian home at the corner of North Olive Street and West Maple Avenue, two blocks southwest of the main campus. Elliott Alumni House was dedicated during Homecoming 2011 in conjunction with the yearlong celebration of Chapman University's 150th anniversary.

"Tom and I are deeply grateful to those who made sacrifices to fund the scholarships that allowed us to attend Chapman," said Pat. "We started with nothing and worked very hard for every penny we earned. We are fortunate to be in a position to give back and help others."

Built in 1904 by William J. and Ella Granger, founders of First National Bank of Orange on the Plaza, Elliott Alumni House is a treasured landmark of the local community. Surrounded by lush gardens and a picket fence, the house is easily accessible from campus as well as the shops and restaurants of Old Towne Orange. "The Alumni Association is in the midst of developing bold investments into the services that we offer our alumni and students. Elliott Alumni House is a cornerstone of that effort and makes a perfect home for our future offerings.
